MeowWa Terms of Use — release candidate
Status: not published; requires operator identity, commercial terms, governing-law language, and qualified-counsel approval
Version 1.1 · proposed effective date: date of counsel-approved publication
Eligibility and accounts
MeowWa's United States release is for people aged 16 or older. MeowWa does not verify age; this is a condition of use, and an account found to belong to a child is closed. You must provide accurate account information, protect your sign-in and Mac, and promptly report suspected unauthorized access. A parent or guardian may use their own adult account for a family pet; a child may not own a MeowWa account, wallet, checkout, or household role. You are responsible for people you invite and the permissions you give them.
What MeowWa does—and does not do
MeowWa organizes owner observations and may produce a probabilistic possible-need result from media you deliberately submit. It does not translate literal animal speech, diagnose a condition, provide veterinary or medical advice, or replace professional care. Never delay veterinary or emergency help because of MeowWa. Results may be wrong, incomplete, or unavailable.
Recordings and submitted content
You must have the right and any required consent to record, upload, and share submitted content. Do not submit another person's confidential information or unlawful content. You keep ownership of your content and give MeowWa a limited permission to process it only to provide, secure, and support the service and any separately accepted optional use. Model-improvement use requires a separate revocable choice and an approved release.
Wallets, test funds, and commerce
The beta uses test funds with no cash value unless the app explicitly shows that a production financial capability has been enabled. Do not send real assets to a test address. If real features are later enabled, the owner remains responsible for approvals, limits, taxes, lawful use, external wallet actions, and reviewing recipients and amounts. Public-chain transactions may be irreversible and publicly visible.
Shopify and the selected merchant—not MeowWa—collect checkout shipping/payment information, accept or reject the order, fulfill it, and administer the merchant refund. MeowWa keeps only the order identifier, label, total, fulfillment and refund state, update time, and Shopify's order-status link; it holds no buyer address, phone number, or payment credential. MeowWa must show the status it can verify and provide a support route, but does not promise inventory, delivery, product quality, or merchant acceptance. Mandatory consumer rights are not limited by these terms.
Acceptable use
You may not bypass owner approval or spending controls; access another household; probe or disrupt the service; upload malware; use the service for unlawful surveillance, fraud, animal harm, or illegal commerce; misrepresent an interpretation as professional advice; or reverse engineer the service except where law expressly permits it.
Availability, suspension, and deletion
Features may be paused for security, provider failure, maintenance, legal compliance, or animal- safety risk. MeowWa may restrict an account that threatens people, animals, owners, providers, or the service. Owners may export data, permanently delete eligible pet profiles, and schedule account closure. Safety checks may delay pet deletion until balances, signers, transactions, orders, withdrawals, and financial reviews are settled. The Privacy Policy and retention schedule explain what remains and why.
Software licence and updates
MeowWa grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and run the MeowWa Mac app on Macs you control, for your own use of the service. You may not sell, rent, sublicense, or redistribute the app, and you may not modify, decompile, or defeat its code signing except where law expressly permits it. The licence ends when your account closes or these terms end.
Copies distributed outside the Mac App Store check for updates automatically over HTTPS and install only updates whose cryptographic signature they verify; an update check tells the update service your IP address and your app and macOS versions. Automatic checks are on in these copies and the app offers no switch to turn them off, though you can also check on demand from the MeowWa menu. MeowWa may require a minimum version to keep using the service. The app includes third-party components under their own licences; those licences and required notices are published with the app under Notices and in docs/legal/THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md, and nothing in these terms limits your rights under them.
Intellectual property and feedback
MeowWa and its software, branding, and service content remain the operator's property. Third-party components remain subject to their licenses. Feedback may be used to improve the service without identifying you, but recordings or account content are not model-training feedback unless you make the separate approved choice.
Required legal completion before publication
Qualified United States counsel must supply and approve the verified operator identity and contact, governing law and forum, warranty and liability language, indemnity if appropriate, state-specific consumer terms, paid-service/refund terms, electronic communications consent, termination process, and change-notice method. Those provisions cannot be invented by engineering. Until the signed publication manifest identifies the exact approved text and app build, these terms are a release candidate and do not authorize public production.
